21CC (twenty-first century church) is Kelty Kirk's pilgrimage into whatever new methods and styles of worship might develop, for those of us who are interested in testing the way forward and creating new worship for a new age. Using various musical styles (live and blasted out on CD), 30-50ft video and computer projection, craftwork, open and frank discussion, interactive prayer, and any other ideas that folk bring with them, we are developing a radically new worship environment for searching our God-given spirituality.

The whole ethos of what we do is rooted in our determination to worship our living God in the living ways that we find are naturally part of our day to day life. If we use rock music (for example) in our house, why not use the same in God's house? This is simply creative worship for, and by, ordinary folk who wish to engage with their spirituality in meaniful ways.

21CC is heavily influenced by Greenbelt (Annual Christian Arts Festival) and the Prodigal Project, and we are indebted to the many creative Christians all over the place who have unconsciously given us much inspiration and encouragement to break away from the norm.

If you are a someone who is interested in doing church worship in a whole new way, intrigued about the possibility of exploring your spirituality, or simply keen to see what on earth we are doing in our local village church in the west of Fife, then come along and get involved. It is well smart!

Our Next 21CC Service is entitled "Blood, Sweat & Tears" and will take place on Sunday 31st March (Easter Sunday) at 8pm in Kelty Church.

At the end of 2002 21CC took place in Kelty Church @ 7pm on Sundays 4th & 18th Nove and 2nd & 16th Dec 2001 when we were woshipping and working towards our:

"LIGHT THE DARK"

CHRISTMAS SERVICE

SUNDAY 23RD DECEMBER @ 8PM

Over 90 people came to be blinded by a new vision of God's light, stumble in a darkened church for the Christchild to illuminate our way, witness light shine in dark places, and spread a torch of Christmas peace all around the world.

We used laptop pray stations, a UV prayer wall, a Room of Light and a variety of Light Boxes to see more clearly what the Christmas season is all about.

Have some photos to let you see a little of what we did:

Our Harvest 21CC took place in Kelty Church @ 7pm on Sundays 10th, 24th June; 19th Aug; and 2nd, 16th, 30th Sept 2001 when we were worshipping and working towards our:

"WATER OF LIFE"

HARVEST THANKSGIVING SERVICE

SUNDAY 7th OCTOBER @ 8PM

With our large, suspended, ice cube dripping continually onto some pictures and sand throughout, we immersed ourselves into the life-giving waters of Christ. Thanksgiving prayers were drunk from our water cooler. We dived deeper into Christian principles of giving water to the thirsty by signing Tear Fund's "Water Matters Petition". We relaxed in our rippling pools of confessional and interessory prayer with our sand map and hand washing meditations whilst live and recorded music from Lady Smith Black Maxambo washed over: "Rain, Rain, Beautiful Rain."

Our pentecost 21CC took place in Kelty Church @ 7pm on Sundays 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th May 2001 when we were worshipping and working towards our:

"TONGUES OF FIRE"

Pentecost Service on 3rd JUNE

at 7pm

Over 60 people came along to warm their souls with the 50ft computer generated flames that engulfed the church from floor to roof. People surrounded themselves with the 'techno' worship music, moved from one part of the church to another, encouraging our individual response to the Spirit of God, and grasped a blessing through the lighting of candle prayers whilst we sang the Taize chant, "Veni Sancti Spiritus".

21CC aims to make local worship in Kelty a vibrant, living, interactive experience that radically changes how we think, act, and live.
